Banana Pudding Ice Cream!

I made some homemade ice cream yesterday. I turned John's favorite dessert into my favorite dessert. Now we're both really happy:) It was delicious! It has bananas and animal crackers in it (I didn't have any vanilla wafers). I wasn't sure how much vanilla to put into it so I just guessed. It was a little bit too much, but it was still really good. It's 99 degrees out today so this is the perfect southern treat.

Banana Pudding Ice Cream

1 1/3 cup sugar (I used raw)
1 to 1 1/2 tsp vanilla (I originally used 2 tsp but it seemed to be a bit too much)
6 egg yolks
4 cups heavy whipping cream
1 1/3 cup milk or half and half
1 1/2 bananas
1 1/2 to 2 cups crumbled cookies

Beat together sugar, vanilla and eggs until smooth. Then add heavy cream and milk a little at a time while beating in between. Chill mixture in fridge for about an hour. Add cookies and bananas right before you start the ice cream maker.

You could also use entirely heavy cream which will make the ice cream even thicker and creamier, but it also makes it more expensive. The cream comes in a 32oz carton so it's just easier to use one of those and then add 1 1/3 of milk (I use whole milk though so I'm not sure how it would turn out with 2% or skim) Half and half is even better if you've got it. Either way it still turns out quite creamy. Much more filling than ice cream bought in the store.
