Christmas Cookies

I made a plate of cookies for our neighbors. I tried a few new recipes this year.

These were my favorites. They're called peppermint snowballs and they were delicious. I also liked the molasses creams a lot too.

Our little climber

Jude really gets around now. We are suddenly having to start moving stuff off our lower shelves. He pulls himself up on everything now and also likes to climb on whatever he can reach. He keeps me on my toes:)

Bathtime Fun!

Bathtime is another one of Jude's favorite things to do. He loves to lie on his belly and kick his legs splashing water everywhere.

This post is for my sister Melissa.....

Melissa let me use her exersaucer for Jude and he LOVES it, which means I love it cuz it buys me some time to get some work done around the house:) So thank you Melissa.

"I new I shouldn't have eaten that extra helping of baby food....."

We haven't gotten a baby gate yet so in the mean time we've been using a chair to block off the kitchen. This doesn't make Jude very happy since one of his favorite things to do is to play in the dog's water dish. He tried very hard to squeeze his way through.

Thanksgiving

We went to Knoxville for Thanksgiving this year. All of my family, except my brother Daniel and his family, were there. There were my parents, 5 children, 4 in-laws and 11 grandchildren. Oh yeah, and my grandpa. So it was quite chaotic, but it was fun!

This is how I found Jude today when he was supposed to be napping. Apparently he has learned to pull himself up in his crib now. Pretty soon we will have to lower his mattress.

6 Months Old

Jude Turned 6 months today! He's getting so big. I can't believe it. He is starting to crawl around now, though it's a little uncoordinated still. He can sit on his own if he steadies himself with his hand. He can pull himself up. He loves to laugh, smile and make loud, high pitched noises. His favorite toys are his remote control and his chicken. He also LOVES to be naked. Whenever he's getting fussy I know all I have to do is strip him down and he's happy as can be. The only foods I've given him so far are cereal, apples and banana. His favorite so far seems to be apples. It's so fun to watch him discover new things. He's such a joy to have. I couldn't ask for a better baby.

So Big!

Jude pulled himself up to a standing position for the first time yesterday. I was lying on the floor when he crawled up to me, grabbed onto my belt and up he went! I don't know if he would be able to pull himself up using something as big as a chair, but he also pulled himself up this morning using his bouncy seat.

What a mess Jude

Jude likes to play with the fireplace. Yesterday he got a hold of the poker tool and got his hand all black with soot. Luckily, i got to him before he got any on my rug or his clothes. I caught him with it in his mouth the other day. I didn't get a picture though because I was more interested in wiping the soot out of his mouth. It would have been a funny picture though. He had it all over his face.

Sitting by the fire

Jude has been learning to sit lately. He will go from crawling to sitting like this. He still has to have a hand steadying him. If you sit him up yourself he will sit for a bit, but then topples over.

Painted Cabinets

John and I painted our kitchen cabinets. We also bought hardware for them. We don't have all the hardware on yet. As you can see, some of the cabinets don't have handles. Next step is to put in a new floor. We have the tile, we just need the time to install it. I would also like to get new countertops eventually. Installing things yourself brings down the cost of remodeling quite a bit, but unfortunately we can't install countertops ourselves. I would love to get granite or butcher block, but I don't know if we'll be able to afford it. We may just get more formica or laminate HD. I want something a little darker and warmer to contrast with the white cabinets. Plus, ours has a few stains on it that show up easily on the white.
