Potty Training

When I was at my parents over Easter, Jude showed some interest in using the potty. So Monday morning I decided to get the potty chair out and give it a shot. I let him go around the house naked from the waist down. By Tuesday he was completely potty trained........when naked:) I still struggled with getting him to stay dry with underwear. I don't think he understood the difference between underwear and diapers. So I've been keeping him naked all week to ensure that he gets the hang of going to the potty when he feels that sensation, and he went accident free all week. Today I tried putting underwear on him again. So far he has been staying dry and will go to the potty and pull them down when he has to go, so yay! that's encouraging. At this rate he should definitely be fully trained by the time Claire arrives. It will be nice to have only one in diapers. Oh yeah, and he also went poop in the potty for the first time today. It was kind of a disaster though. I wasn't even in the room when it happened so I'm not sure how he managed it, but when I came in there was poop smeared all over the seat with one poop on and one that had apparently rolled off and Jude was also sitting on the potty with a perplexed look on his face. He also had poop smeared all over his legs and bottom. I was still excited because he thought to go in the potty without any direction from me. We'll work on the logistics later:)

Waste down works I guess since that is the area in which the waste comes from but I believe you were looking for waist down.

Ha ha, oops, thanks for the correction. I didn't even notice.

TMI!!!!

Whoo! That was a lot of instances of the word 'poop' all in one post! Mom will be appalled!

But it is good that he is catching on so quickly!

I can't believe that it is possible to train a child without M & M's! But I'm glad that he's well on his way to being trained before his sister arrives.

And yes, can we not use another word, Beth??? :>)

Mom

I'm sorry, but that's what it is...poop. I could say feces, but I think that would sound even worse. I suppose I could call it "kinky" (stinky) which is what Jude calls it:) but then again, I'm not 2.

I believe the correct usage would be excrement or BM?! And you are doing way better than us! We had it about conquered, then reverted back. Bekah did the same thing, and I didn't handle it so well with her. This time I'm in the "whatever will be will be" phase. Although if it wasn't for the carpet, I'm sorely tempted to have him doing the "waste down" thing too!
